A Day in the Park 

Morning in the Park

John is a boy. He is six years old. Today is Saturday. John wakes up at eight o’clock. He puts on his red hat. He wears blue shoes. He takes his small bag. He puts in an apple and a bottle of water. John is happy. He goes to the park with his mother.

When they arrive, John sees green grass. He sees tall trees. He sees yellow flowers. He hears birds sing. John smiles. He runs on the grass. He kicks a small ball. He laughs. His mother sits on a bench. She reads a book.

A New Friend

John plays with the ball. Suddenly, a dog runs to him. The dog is brown and white. The dog wags its tail. John is not afraid. He calls, “Hello, dog!” The dog licks John’s hand. John pats the dog. He gives the dog a piece of his apple. The dog eats the apple gently.

A little girl comes close. She has long black hair. She says, “This is my dog. Her name is Bella.” John says, “Nice to meet you and Bella.” The girl smiles. She says, “Do you want to play together?” John says, “Yes, please!” The three play catch. They laugh and run. They have fun.

Home Again

After one hour, John feels tired. His mother says, “Time to go home.” John says, “Goodbye, Bella.” The girl says, “Goodbye, John.” The dog barks softly. John waves his hand. He and his mother walk home.

At home, John washes his hands. He eats his lunch. He thinks of the park. He is very happy. He says, “I love the park. I love my new friend.” John plans to go again next Saturday.

الصباح في الحديقة

عندما يصلان، يرى جون العشب الأخضر. يرى الأشجار الطويلة. يرى الزهور الصفراء. يسمع تغريد الطيور. يبتسم جون. يركض على العشب. يركل كرة صغيرة. يضحك. تجلس والدته على مقعد. تقرأ كتابًا.

صديق جديد

يلعب جون بالكرة. فجأة، يركض كلب نحوه. الكلب بني وأبيض. يهز ذيله. جون ليس خائفًا. ينادي: “مرحبًا يا كلب!” يلعق الكلب يد جون. يربت جون على الكلب. يعطِ الكلب قطعة من تفاحه. يأكل الكلب التفاحة برفق.

تقترب فتاة صغيرة. شعرها أسود وطويل. تقول: “هذا كلبي. اسمه بيلا.” يقول جون: “تشرفت بمقابلتك وبـ بيلا.” تبتسم الفتاة. تقول: “هل تريد اللعب معنا؟” يقول جون: “نعم، من فضلك!” يلعب الثلاثة لعبة الإمساك بالكرة. يضحكون ويركضون. يستمتعون كثيرًا.

العودة إلى المنزل

بعد ساعة، يشعر جون بالتعب. تقول والدته: “حان وقت العودة إلى المنزل.” يقول جون: “وداعًا يا بيلا.” تقول الفتاة: “وداعًا يا جون.” ينبح الكلب بهدوء. يلوح جون بيده. يمشي مع والدته إلى المنزل.

في المنزل، يغسل جون يديه. يتناول غداءه. يفكر في الحديقة. يكون سعيدًا جدًا. يقول: “أحب الحديقة. أحب صديقي الجديد

.” يخطط جون للذهاب مرة أخرى السبت المقبل.
